Hello!

My name is Heidi, Ms. Jimenez or Ms. J to my students. I am from a small town found in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. There is a plethora of trees and wildlife of all types and a vast expance of scenery one cannot say no to. My favorite weather can be found in the fall, though my favorite season is winter. Halloween is my favorite holiday and my favorite hobby is reading.

I studied English through the Secondary Education Program at Western Michigan University. Throughout my college career I held a job on campus at the Office for Sustainability and was a proud member of the Lawson Lunitics student spirit group for WMU: Men's Ice Hockey team.

I became an English teacher because of my love for literature. Books are a magical thing. They can take a person to a whole new world. They can take you on an adventure. They can make you cry and laugh; they can even make you angry. What's more is that they can make you question. They can make you think in a way you never thought possible. Books are windows to new thinking, different perspectives, understanding, and acceptence. Every book has its own lesson no matter what reading level, no matter the genre, or whether it is illustrated or not. There is always something to be learned; whether it is from a novel, an essay, a poem, or a short story.
